Structure
Borealis is a modular seating system where defined wooden planes meet soft, precisely shaped volumes. Designed by Snøhetta and produced by Citterio, it is built around an exposed oak frame that accommodates and enhances upholstered elements. A clear geometry and a square-module logic generate an articulated family, armchairs, two- and three-seater sofas, benches, and side tables, enabling both free and serial compositions. Horizontal surfaces, armrests, backrests, sides, act as functional interaction planes for lounges, waiting areas, and informal meeting zones. Differentiated-density foams, together with targeted construction details, ensure comfort, durability, and ease of assembly. A measured, warm, and precise language that integrates naturally with architecture.

THE SYSTEM
The range includes armchairs, two- and three-seater sofas, with or without armrests, benches in two depths, and side/coffee tables in three sizes, ensuring formal coherence and layout flexibility. The modular framework supports linear, corner, and open-plan configurations while preserving proportion and visual order.

STRUCTURE, COMFORT, LONGEVITY
An exposed oak frame is engineered to host differentiated-density foam cushions, providing sustained ergonomics and comfort. Beneath the essential geometry, technical details improve durability and simplify assembly. Armrests, backrests, and sides also perform as practical support surfaces.
From open lounges to more intimate settings, Borealis evolves with the architecture, supporting waiting, informal work, and social interaction. The system logic enables quick reconfiguration and dynamic scenarios with a consistent design language.
MATERIALS AND FINISHES
Structure in Natural Oak or Coffee Oak, with a curated textile offer organized by categories and tones to ensure material continuity and performance. The palette supports both understated and more expressive compositions within Citterio’s controlled aesthetic.

A TOTAL FEEL
Borealis contributes to a warm, tactile workspace where wood connects furniture, architecture, and well-being. In dialogue with systems such as Wood Wall and W-SS, it embodies Tech by Nature, combining innovation, natural materials, and long-term quality.
