Città: Perth
Architect: Design Paper

Citterio contributed to the new offices of a global mining and metals company in Perth with more than 70 custom-designed pods, lockers and planters, integrated into the redevelopment project of the 100 St Georges Terrace office tower.

Designed by Design Paper, the project covers 6,200 sqm within one of the city’s most significant recent urban transformation projects. Conceived as a campus-style workplace, the interiors promote wellbeing, inclusion and new collaborative ways of working through an open, flexible and people-centred layout.

Citterio’s pods, developed as autonomous volumes for meetings, video calls and collaborative activities, combine structural independence, acoustic comfort and integrated technological solutions for hybrid work. Alongside Citterio’s architectural systems, UniFor developed a family of bespoke meeting tables, contributing to the definition of a technological and coherent workplace designed to support new ways of working in the heart of Perth.

The redevelopment of the 100 St Georges Terrace office tower, in the heart of Perth, is one of the city’s most significant recent urban transformation projects. The intervention redefines the building as a contemporary mixed-use destination, combining innovative amenities, new social spaces and a restrained architectural language.

Entrusted to Design Paper, the project includes the creation of the new headquarters of a Global Mining Company, a leading international mining and metals company, occupying a total area of 6,200 sqm. The interiors are conceived as a campus-style workplace, designed to promote wellbeing, inclusion and new collaborative ways of working in the centre of Perth.

Moving beyond traditional office models, the project offers the same spatial quality to all employees, regardless of role or level of experience. By consolidating the workplace onto a single floorplate, the design ensures equal access to natural light, material quality and shared amenities, while integrating collaborative areas, private focus spaces and wellness-oriented infrastructure.

Interior design: the contribution of Citterio and UniFor

The interior design is characterised by natural materials and biophilic principles. Neutral shades of green and beige evoke the natural world, while more than 1,600 plants distributed throughout the workplace contribute to the quality of the space and to the wellbeing of its occupants.

Within this context, the solutions supplied by Citterio and UniFor, both brands of Molteni Group, are seamlessly integrated into the interior architecture. The intervention includes more than 70 custom-designed pods, lockers and planters by Citterio, alongside a complete family of bespoke meeting tables developed by UniFor.

The defining technical element of the project is the system of custom-designed pods developed by Citterio: autonomous architectural volumes conceived for meetings, video calls and collaborative activities. Designed to accommodate up to eight people.

Each pod features a self-supporting steel structure, independent from the building and engineered to ensure stability without the need for anchoring to existing walls, floors or ceilings. The front façade is realised using the Wood Wall system, integrating solid timber profiles, glazed panels, a hinged door and a technical module for cabling and electrical components. The remaining sides use the Sealed partition system, with an external melamine wood-effect finish that combines durability with visual uniformity.

Inside, the pods combine melamine surfaces and upholstered finishes to enhance both tactile comfort and acoustic performance. Micro-perforated sound-absorbing panels, integrated LED lighting and technical preconfigurations for cabling, audio systems, smoke detectors and supplementary lighting complete a system designed to interface with the building services without requiring invasive interventions.

UniFor developed a complete collection of bespoke meeting tables, designed to integrate harmoniously within the interiors and contribute to a fluid, contemporary working landscape. Characterised by a minimal design, the tables feature slate-painted structures and legs combined with grey Fenix tabletops, and are available in different sizes accommodating up to 12 people.

The collaboration between Citterio and UniFor establishes a new benchmark for highly complex workplace environments: on one hand, independent and high-performing architectural solutions; on the other, bespoke furnishings distinguished by material quality, functionality and formal coherence.

The result is a technological, flexible and deeply human-centred workplace, designed to support new ways of working in the heart of Perth.
